Meet the Educator
Rosie Hall
Founder. Educator. Author
Animals have always been at the centre of my life. Myself (Rosie) and my husband Kyle have been surrounded by animals for as long as we can remember — from small pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs and rats, to exotic reptiles including chameleons, Burmese pythons and our much-loved Green Iguana, Olive.
Dogs, however, have always been closest to our hearts. Kyle grew up with his collie cross Bonnie, and I had my beloved Westie, Hamish. Today we share our home with two mixed bree dogs, Ralph and Crystal, they are working therapy dogs. We also love our three wonderful Estrela Mountain Dogs — Sulley, Cindy and their daughter Moana. Living with a rare guardian breed has deepened my understanding of temperament, breed traits, communication, and the importance of truly reading the dog in front of you.
As parents to Isabelle and Abigail, we continue to raise our family surrounded by animals, teaching respect, empathy and responsibility from an early age.

Education has never been something I have “completed” — it is something I continually invest in.
Why Education Became the Focus
Over years of grooming and working closely with dogs and their owners, I began to notice a pattern. The challenges owners faced weren’t just technical — they were rooted in misunderstanding stress, coat needs, realistic limits, and how dogs experience grooming.
Owners wanted to do the right thing — they just didn’t always have the knowledge to make informed decisions.
That is why I created Understanding Home Dog Grooming.
My work has evolved from providing services alone to educating owners so they can make safe, welfare-led choices themselves. Grooming should never be about forcing completion — it should be about protecting comfort, emotional safety, and long-term wellbeing.
My Approach
I believe animals are individuals with thoughts, feelings and emotional needs. It is our responsibility to understand them, communicate clearly, and work within their limits.
Whether through education, coaching, or practical support, my goal is always the same:
-
Prioritise welfare over appearance
-
Protect emotional and physical wellbeing
-
Encourage realistic, responsible decision-making
-
Build confidence in both dogs and owners
When animals are in my care — or learning is taking place — their wellbeing comes first, always.
